Girls at St Joseph’s celebrate HSC success!

St Joseph’s Catholic College celebrated the outstanding HSC results achieved by the Year 12 class of 2008. A total of 65 places on the NSW State high achievers list were awarded to students from the College. This placed the College in second place on the Central Coast Rebecca  was recognised as a ‘state top achiever’ gaining 13th place in General Mathematics.

89% of all the courses studied by the girls at St Joseph’s achieved means above state average. 8 of these subjects (Biology, Drama, English Standard, Geography, Industrial Technology, General Mathematics, Mathematics, & Senior Science) achieved a mean of +5marks or more. Approximately 30% of all girls at the College were awarded with a band 6 result in 1 or more subject.

Jessica obtained outstanding results and was awarded with a band 6 in 6 or her 7 subjects and received a UAI of 96.45.Alice and Leah were awarded band 6 in 5 courses. Over all 10 students received a UAI over 90

Mr.  Walsh the College principal said: “the staff is extremely pleased with the exceptional performance of all our HSC students. Our 109 HSC girls have worked very hard throughout their years at the College to achieve the 65 band 6’s and an amazing 248 band 5 results. The College in the last twelve months has focused on developing a program of education that is centered the way girls learn best and how that learning is significant to their lives. We encourage our young women to achieve their personal best whilst expecting them to use this success to help the wider community.”
