Curriculum
At St Joseph’s Catholic College we seek to encourage each student to strive for her personal best in all areas and engender in each student a life-long love of learning.

The teaching and learning programs at St Joseph's Catholic College have been developed to ensure that the curriculum is challenging, dynamic, contemporary, and that it reflects our Catholic view of the world. The college teaching programs are embedded with the three elements of the Quality Teaching Framework: intellectual quality, a quality learning environment and that learning is made significant to the students.
Curriculum at St. Joseph’s Catholic College has been developed in response to the diverse needs of the students. A rigorous academic programme allows for the more able students top engage in a fulfilling and rewarding course of study. The College has a Gifted and Talented program which caters for individual and small group needs. The College provides Extension courses as well investigating cross curricular learning activities.
Students with special learning needs are catered for both in integrated classes and where necessary, in intensive small groups. In addition, Life Skills courses in Years 9 to 12 are available.
The college recognises the need to assist and advise students on possible career options. A Careers Advisor is available to meet with the girl’s and parents when choosing elective courses to study in Years 9 and 11. As well the careers advisor provides assistance to students when completing forms such as UAC entry, TAFE applications, scholarships applications, application for Tax File numbers, student study allowances.
An understanding of as a tool provides a framework for higher order thinking at the College. Students are provided with opportunities and are encouraged to develop confidence in their use of technology both within and outside the classroom. The college is well resourced in this area. There are four main computer learning facilities, as well as computers/data projectors in key classrooms. An extensive intranet facility through ‘Myinternet’ is available to all students.
Abroad range of courses in the HSC is offered in Years 11 & 12, including VET (Vocational Education & Training) such as Hospitality Operations. The College also offers courses externally at TAFE, The Open High School and Saturday School of Community Languages.
