Student Wellbeing

St Joseph’s Catholic College provides a safe, caring and supportive environment in which each student is shaped by her relationship with Jesus in the Catholic tradition and is inspired by St Mary of the Cross MacKillop to make a difference in the world.

Camp Program

Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 attend a 3 day camp at the end of first term. Camps are an important component of the College’s Pastoral Care and Student Wellbeing Program because each camp provides students with progressively more demanding physical, social and emotional challenges not available in learning settings at school.

Year 7 camp is held at the end of Term 1 at Southern Cross Outdoor Education Centre at Somersby. Students in Year 7 are new to the college so the most important goal of this camp is to ‘get to know students in your year and have fun with old and new friends’.

Year 8 students travel to the Sport and Recreation Centre at Point Wolstoncroft on Lake Macquarie for their camp with an emphasis on water-based activities to challenge students. An important element of this camp experience is working as a team to meet challenges and serve the community by assisting to serve meals.

Students in Year 9 attend the Active Education Centre at Morisset for their camp experience. Activities are more challenging but are designed to allow students to meet their own level of challenge. The exhilarating range of activities allows every student to push her boundaries whilst having ‘the time of her life’ with her friends.
